How to Clean Your Sterling Silver Jewelry At Home

Cleaning your jewelry at home is easy and can done with just a few ingredients you probably already have at home – baking soda, hot water, aluminum foil and vinegar

Step # 1: Line a Bowl with Aluminum Foil: Take a heat-resistant bowl and line it with aluminum foil, but important here, make sure that the shiny side is facing up. This is where the magic happens!" The aluminum foil creates a chemical reaction that helps remove tarnish from sterling silver.

Step #2: Arrange the Jewelry. Next, take your tarnished sterling silver jewelry and arrange it on the aluminum foil. Make sure each piece has direct contact with the foil.

Step # 3: Sprinkle Baking Soda. Now, grab that baking soda and generously sprinkle it over your jewelry. This humble ingredient is going to help us banish that tarnish.

Step # 4: Heat Up the Vinegar. In a separate container, heat some white vinegar. It doesn't need to boil, but we want it nice and warm. This is the secret sauce for our cleaning solution!

Step # 5: Pour Over the Jewelry. Carefully pour the hot vinegar over the jewelry. You might see a little fizz – that's the chemical reaction working its magic!

Step #6: Let It Soak "Now, let your jewelry soak in this vinegar and baking soda spa for about 1 to 3 minutes. You'll notice the tarnish transferring from the silver to the aluminum foil.
